Cathryn Clary

Dr. Clary is the Acting Chief Medical Officer, responsible for overseeing all aspects of clinical drug development and patient safety.

Prior to joining Solid, Dr. Clary was the Global Head of Policy and Patient Affairs in the Chief Medical & Patient Safety Office at Novartis, and responsible for ensuring the implementation of Patient Focused Drug Development across Novartis as well as developing and implementing patient centered policies. Prior to this role, Cathryn was the Chief Scientific Officer and Head, US Medical and Clinical Development at Novartis.

Before joining Novartis, Dr. Clary served as the Head of US Clinical Development and Medical Affairs at Ipsen where she managed a specialty portfolio focused on rare diseases in the Endocrine and Neurology therapeutic areas. Dr Clary began her career at Pfizer where she was responsible for the medical aspects of Zoloft worldwide, and supported a large portfolio of medicines across multiple therapeutic areas.

Dr. Clary currently serves on the Foundation Board of the Mercer Country Community College, and as an advisor to People and Stories, a not-for-profit group that utilizes the power of literature to drive towards a more equitable society.

Dr. Clary remains a Senior Vice President, Medical, at SSI Strategy, a boutique life sciences consulting firm, and has worked with many pharmaceutical and biotech clients related to their medical office functions.

Dr. Clary holds an AB in English literature from Bryn Mawr College (Philadelphia, PA), an MD from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and completed her psychiatric training at the University of Pennsylvania. She practiced psychiatry in Delaware, staying actively engaged in clinical research in depression and anxiety disorders through her membership in the University of Pennsylvania Psychopharmacology Research Group. She also received an MBA from the University of Delaware.
